MARSHA LOW studied history and languages and graduated from the University of
Pennsylvania before her years with Ananda Marga, the controversial spiritual sect
chronicled in her memoir, The Orange Robe. After returning to the U.S. and earning
her M.Ed., she helped found Wissahickon Charter School, a K-8 school in Philadelphia
with an environmental focus to its curriculum. Over the years, Low has worked with a
number of Philadelphia-based nonprofit and social service groups. She is a long-time
member of Weavers Way Co-op's Environment Committee and was a board member of
the Clean Air Council for ten years. She currently teaches English as a Second
Language at area colleges and lives outside Philadelphia with her husband, David.
While the author has written numerous poems and stories throughout the years, The
Orange Robe is her first book. She is currently working on a novel.
